Hi everyone, today I want to talk to you about some tips that really helped me when I started meditating.
Meditation is great for releasing a stressed out and overworked mind. It’s also great to help with things like anxiety and depression.

My tips for beginners
1: Set aside some time – finding a good time to meditate is vital for your practice. The morning is always a good time as it sets you up for the day. Ideally you should aim to meditate for between 20-30 minutes but you can start with 5-10 minutes and increase it week by week to ease yourself in. Try setting your alarm for 10 minutes earlier than usual if you struggle with time in the mornings. If not try it at the end of the day.
2: Get Comfy – Start by sitting up comfortably. Then physically relax your body. Run through it mentally, relax the head, shoulders, arms, legs etc.
3: Find your breath – To start your meditation you want to find your breath. Concentrating on it coming into the body and then leaving the body. Continue to follow it.
4: Accept thoughts: As you are concentrating on your breath you are bound to have thoughts pop up. Just accept them and bring the concentration back to the breath as soon as you realise the mind has wandered. This could happen several times.
5: Practice makes perfect: The first few times you practice meditation you will find that thoughts pop up a lot. But the more you stick to your meditation routine and practice the more you will find that you can calm the mind much quicker and reap the true benefits of meditating.
6: Take it slow: When your practice is over ensure that you bring yourself around slowly and calmly. Before you open your eyes notice and feel your body in the present moment, open your eyes and become aware of your surroundings before you move and continue with your day.
