5 Tips for Self Care

Taking care of number one should be the most important thing. But quite often it’s the last thing we think of when we have busy lives. If you are anything like me then my little toddler comes first.

However, that doesn’t mean I can’t take care of myself too. In fact this is vital if I’m going to look after others.

Here are my top 5 tips for self care that everyone should be doing.

1: Hydrate – Staying hydrated is probably the most important tip anyone can give. When we are dehydrated we can’t think straight and we often feel more tired. Water flushes our systems of toxins and helps us stay healthy and alert.

2: Naps – Taking just a 15-20 minute nap can give you an amazing boost. This time shouldn’t effect normal sleep patterns but it can make an amazing difference to your day if you are able. Our bodies do a lot for us each day so it’s just a way to give a little bit back and keep it on top form.

3: Vitamins – In a busy world we can often get caught up with take-always and ready made food in the go. Whilst these are easy at the time they often have lots of hidden bits that make them a lot less healthy than we think. By taking a daily multivitamin we ensure that our bodies are getting the vitamins it needs to stay healthy.

4: Time-Out – Everyone needs time out from time to time. So take 15 minutes and switch off technology, make yourself a cup of tea and just chill out or meditate for a few minutes. It’s not just your body that needs it your mind does too.

5: Breathe – Did you know that we often do not breathe properly. Our bodies require oxygen in order for everything to work properly. But often we breathe shallowly and so we don’t get enough oxygen. So take five minutes each day to breathe deeply. Feel the expansion of the stomach and chest then let it go. This is also great for calming you in a stressful situation.

Have a great Friday everyone and a lovely weekend.

Love Charlotte xx
